Peace comes into our families and our communities and our lives only to the extent that we’re willing to value it and work to extend its reach. With that in mind, let’s consider three. Some use poetry and metaphor, some are direct, others ask questions and some profile peacemakers. A few books also mention war, but for the most part these are peace books, not books about the horrors of war.
I have separated these books about peace into two main categories below—peace picture books, and biographies of peacemaking women and men. Jesus is speaking of making peace when we ourselves are involved in conflict with others. So to explore this Beatitude, we need to go to the root cause of conflict among ourselves.
